An agreement was signed on December 6, 2011 by all trade unions (CFTC, CFDT, FO FNCR, CGC) – with the exception of the CGT, still consulting its members – as well as the management organizations TLF, OTRE and FNTR. The agreement aims to create a compulsory healthcare mutual for the road freight transportation branch.
Until now, only half of the branch’s 450,000 employees have benefited from an employer-provided healthcare mutual. This agreement should take effect on January 1, 2011.
At the 2nd Conference on Social Protection for Transportation and Logistics, which took place on December 7-8 in Paris following the signature of the agreement, both social partners and Thierry Mariani, Minister of Transportation, praised this important step towards providing coverage adapted to the sector.
According to Thierry Douine, President of the CFTC transportation federation, “this mutual provides excellent reimbursement tailored to the specific needs of [these] professions, such as osteopathy and tobacco addiction, as well as eyeglasses”.
The CFDT nevertheless criticized the “logistics” and “household moving” branches for their continued refusal to take part in the system.
